How To Remove Warts At Home: Using Salicylic Acid

Common warts and plantar warts can remove the wart without a doctor visit. Salicylic acid is usually effective on small common warts, or on small clusters of warts. It's an inexpensive wart remove method too.

What is Salicylic acid ?

Salicylic acid is a weak beta hydroxy acid. It can be in the form of a liquid, gel, or a convenient invisible strip that is placed over the wart. It is used in concentrations of about 5-40% percent to treat warts, because the outside of a wart is often very rough.

Some common products containing salicylic acid include:

  • Oxy products
  • Noxzema Anti-Acne Gel
  • Noxzema Anti-Acne Pads
  • Stridex products
  • Dermalogica Medicated Clearing Gel

How to Use Salicylic Acid

  1. Wash the area around the wart thoroughly before applying salicylic acid.
  2. Apply the salicylic acid one drop at a time while skin is still damp for greater effectiveness.
  3. Reapply the salicylic acid twice daily. Skin will begin to slough off until the wart is gone.
For optimal results using a salicyclic acid product, bathe or shower first, or soak the wart-infected area in warm water for 15 to 20 minutes before applying the medication or the patch.

Notes: Treatment of warts can remove the warts, but it may not get rid of the virus.
